Date rape is nothing to flaunt around, especially for a 1.4 million dollar company.

Bloomingdale, best known for its large selection of designer brands and pricey merchandise is becoming familiarized with “the store with the date rape ad”.The department store catches heat for the not so luxurious tagline “Spike your best friend’s eggnog when they’re not looking” which ran in the stores holiday catalog. The ad featured a laughing woman who was looking away while being eyed creepily by a male model who came across as devious. Due to the negative reaction that the ad received Bloomingdale issued this apology : “In reflection of recent feedback, the copy we used in our recent catalog was inappropriate and in poor in taste.” I feel like the ad was offensive , a serious issue such as date rape should not be carried lightly. To make matters worst it was poor decision to place a tag line of this sort in a holiday catalog, where the holiday season is associated with positivity and bringing warm feelings into place. An apology isn’t good enough, there needs to be termination of the masterminds behind the ad.
