McEachern High School celebrates Earth Day by volunteering to pick up trash around the city.

Clubs and organizations such as HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), AP Environmental Science, National Honors Society, BETA Club, Academic Council, McEachern United Methodist Church, and Chick-fil-a Leader Academy will be participating in the event along with anyone else who would like to volunteer.

The “Pick it Up” event will be meeting at the First Baptist Church parking lot on 4330 North Ave. in downtown Powder Springs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Apr. 23.

91 people have pledged their participation including adults as of Friday afternoon.

“The benefits are by providing a community service to the community by cleaning up the roads, so therefore we’re helping our citizens by those properties, also people that drive by the community will notice that we care,” clerk Jacqueline Schilling said.
