When I remember today I think of the water I bought this morning and the last class I was in. I also think of the next class I’m going to have and what time I’ll get home. The mention of “today” is really quite wondrous, being able to remember today, to think of the past which was five minutes ago and to think of the future which is in five minutes, is a gift.

The future is all we have, but the way to get there is to trudge through the present. To remember how much more there truly is, and how the possibilities of tomorrow are endless is what makes it so magical. What we did five minutes ago, doesn’t matter if what you are doing now is not to benefit you in the future.

I’m not saying your past isn’t important, but the things that you grieve over, the things that you waste your time regretting are the things that don’t really matter.

Boys who take advantage of you, getting into fights with your parents, failing a test that you can easily make up–this is all just temporary. If we can get that through our mind, if we can think of things as passing leafs on this stream we sit on, then we can truly find peace in what we are doing. Because, it isn’t about the leafs that float by, it’s about the vast beauty of nature that you’ll see if you get up and take a look around. It’s about wading in the water and feeling how cold it is, it’s about making memories that will last forever because soon enough it’ll all be over and what we lived for will be for nothing.

No one knows where the future will lead you, there will be tough roads ahead where all you want to do sit down and cry beside a stream, but once you realized how amazing it is on the other side of the stream, once you remember your goals and what you strive to be, that’s when you grow up; That’s when you find out that nothing is forever;  That’s when you reach the level you aspire to be, because no one will help you get there.

Remembering today is the most important thing you could ever do.
