Sleep is a precise science. Waking up or falling asleep just a few minutes earlier or later can make a huge difference on how you feel when the alarm goes off. Here’s how to time your sleep perfectly:

Sleepyti.me is a web-based app that uses sleep cycles to give you a general idea of when the right time is to fall asleep or wake up.

The idea behind sleepyti.me is that you feel more refreshed when you wake up at the end of a sleep cycle, rather than in the middle of one. Once you get to the website, you’re greeted with two options: enter in the time you want to wake up (the app will then suggest times you should go to bed at) or tap the “zzz” button to find out when you should get up if you fell asleep right now (the app will suggest times you should wake up at.)

As the website notes, these times are approximate and do not factor in the 14 minutes it takes the average human to fall asleep.

Overall, sleepyti.me is pretty handy tool for those trying to hack their way to a better night’s sleep.

If you’re looking for a tad bit more functionality, try out Smart Alarm Clock (Android/iOS).

As the name suggests, it’ll wake you up during your lightest cycle of sleep in a pre-determined time range (7:00 a.m.-7:30 a.m., for example) based on your movements and sounds. The app can also play soothing sounds to lull you to sleep and will inadvertently let you know about quirks in your sleep habits (aka, snoring).
