Strands of spider silk are more uniformly sized than the vast majority of man-made artifacts. Per the same weight and diameter, spider silk is up to five times more resilient than Kevlar or steel.

Additionally, spider silk harbors one of the highest elasticity rates of earthly substances. It is able to stretch until it is over four times its original length prior to breakage.

It is also extremely light weight. Scientist have found that that the length of a silk strand that encircled the entire Earth would way no more than 18 ounces.
