At an age where the future is the only solace you have against your past, remembering the future is incredibly easy. The thought of the future being greater than the present is comforting and relaxing; it’s the reason we push everything off until then.

“I have six essays due next Tuesday…but i’m playing video games…i’ll just start them tomorrow!” in this scenario the relaxing notion of playing video games instead of writing six essays is definite, as students we constantly do this; procrastinate.

Remembering the future is also very important in those times where the present is too much to handle. Recently the McEachern high school robotics program went to two different competitions that lasted three days. On each of those days the thought that the next day could go better was what gave them the power to strive through.

The future is whatever you make of it, an optimistic approach can be good but can also lead to a depressing end if the outcome wanted was not received. However, a pessimistic approach is bleak throughout the process of the impending outcome.

The inevitable is both foreboding and exciting, my advice to you is to do your best and always look to the future and never settle for existent just because it was planned.
