Lauryn Porter
Aggressive, goofy, and sports minded: not exactly the perfect description of a high school girl, but Lauryn Porter is more than what meets the eye.

Porter is a lacrosse player at McEachern. With a spirit self-described as a “middle school boy,” Porter likes to show her aggression on the field. She feels care free on the field but this mindset changes when she’s off of it.

“I’m very passionate about [lacrosse] so I guess I bring that [passion] into my everyday life,” Porter said.

She spent most weeknights watching basketball and bonding with her dad and brother. During these occasions, her love for sports gradually developed into something more. It even changed her usually calm and collected demeanor into an active and aggressive sports fan.

Porter recalled one night, at a Hawks and Lakers game, the high tension of a fourth quarter tie. Red thunder sticks clapped in waves across the arena. She been confident all game, cheering with the majority and celebrating every point made. Despite her support, the Hawks lost in the end.

That didn't stop the energy she had. She had gotten into a heated argument at the end of the game, which is usually out of her character.

“This was me as a 15 year old girl, arguing with two grown men,” Porter said, laughing at the memory. “I don’t know what came over me.”

With good grades and a big smile reflecting on her charming personality, Porter is a happy spirit. She portrays a lively and goofy aura while with friends and family. She enjoys the simple things in life - nails with the girls, watching sports with the boys, and having a good time all around.

“It brings me joy to see those around me happy because of what I do," Porter said. "I have always wanted people to know my name."

She wants to be a name that is remembered in the best way, and  works hard to be the best and to be a memorable character in society.
