Teachers comfort us when we are distressed, mourn with us when we grieve, and help us achieve greatness. Modern Language teacher Heather Langley is just such a teacher, earning her the distinction of being McEachern’s 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year.
“Ms. Langley absolutely deserves to be teacher of the year,” Modern Language teacher Aaren Erwin said. “She really puts in that extra effort with every single student and really gets to know them on a personal level and built a special relationship by the time they graduate.”
As Langley build strong relationships with her ESOL student while she encourages them to reach new goals. Teacher’s words of encouragement always mollycoddle students to wake up in the middle of the night full of enthusiasm ready to go to school in the morning. When students come across such dedicated teachers, nobody in their class goes to school late and most do their best.
“Ms. Langley is a wonderful teacher, and she helps me understand certain things that I don’t know, which is very helpful,”senior Nachalie Quinones-Arroyo said.
As a McEachern graduate, Langley started her career in 1996 as an English teacher. In 2011, Langley began teaching English to Speakers to Other Languages (ESOL).
Langley wanted to become a teacher because of her family’s inspiration, from her mother being a principal to her sister being a teacher also.
“My students make me so proud because just by seeing them achieve their goals makes me love what I do,” Langley said.
