The game of Rock, Paper, Scissors started decades ago, dating back to B.C times. Though in 2002, brothers Douglas and Graham Walker decided to rent a bar in Toronto and held the first-ever Rock Paper Scissors “world championship”. The Walker’s only expected a few friends and family to show, but were surprised to find that hundreds came to attend the championship. The next year following, major media outlets like CNN covered the tournament and Bud Light even sponsored one of the tournaments offering the winner a $50,000 cash prize. The United States soon caught on to the new sport, introducing the United States of America Rock, Paper, Scissor League. In January 2006, the inception of the United States of America Rock Paper Scissors League (USARPS League) marked a new era in the rich history of the sport. RPS has shaped the nation for centuries, but never had there been a sanctioned and competitive league.
